Iron-Oxide was born in 2006 from Chloë Dear’s passion for vertiginous outdoor performance. Since its formation the company has specialized in producing daring outdoor shows and has established itself as one of Scotland’s leading large-scale companies. The company also produces the work of a number of artists including Ramesh Meyyappan, Oceanallover, Adura Onashile and Strange Bird Zirkus. Iron-Oxide mixes aerial work, original live music, highly physical choreography and intricate imagery to create spectacular performances that stretch the imaginations of its creators and audiences. The company has a strong commitment to supporting the growing Scottish physical theatre, outdoor performance and circus community.
Chloë is an independent creative producer working for a number of companies and under her own company name of Iron-Oxide. She specializes in large-scale work (particularly aerial/circus), international co-productions and projects in unusual places. Recent productions include Feet First (Edinburgh Hogmanay 2009) and Cargo (Edinburgh Mela and Fringe 2010).
Since Chloë’s departure for New Zealand, the management of the company is now undertaken by Company Manager, Wezi Mhura and Producer, Natasha Lee-Walsh who has been working with the company for over 3 years.
Producer & Project Manager
Natasha Lee-Walsh trained in Stage Management & Theatre Production at QMC. In her 14 year career she has worked across the live art field, specialising for a time in Stage and Company Management of mid to large scale international tours.
Since taking the decision to keep her feet on terra-firma a few years ago, she has worked extensively in Production and Project Management. Her most recent discovery of all things circus prompted a very natural move into a role as a circus producer.
Company Manager & Project Co-ordinator
After a 10 year parallel career that has spanned industry and the
performing arts. Working in a number of roles from event/stage
management to producer and company manager within various projects
ranging from large-scale international commercial productions to small
bespoke performances. Wezi has worked with widely diverse artists over
the years and it has been the very nature of this diversity that has
drawn Wezi to commit to working within physical performance, street
theatre and circus arts.
